Whittaker & Co is an independent firm of surveyors, valuers, and auctioneers established in 1991. We are based in South Cumbria, and our services cover the whole of South Cumbria and Lancashire. Our commitment is to provide a personal, traditional, and helpful service at very competitive rates, with a good depth of local knowledge and expertise in the area.

Our practice is primarily operated by Colin Whittaker FRICS, who has a wide spectrum of experience in modern and traditional land agency and chartered surveyors' offices in Derbyshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire. Colin qualified as a Land Agent and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Claims and Compensation

We specialise in negotiating easements and wayleaves for pipelines and overhead cables, including gas and oil pipelines, water pipes, underground electricity cables, overhead cable and power lines, road widening, and improvement schemes. We submit and negotiate claims for capital payments for reduction in the value of your house, farm, and land due to pylons and power lines over your land. For many years, Colin Whittaker has acted for landowners and occupiers in respect of gas, water, and electricity construction schemes, thus obtaining many years of practical experience with all aspects of pipeline and cable schemes.

Valuations

Owning property, land, and other assets inevitably requires valuations from time to time. Whether it is a farm to be sold or an individual animal, we have the experience and expertise to compile and provide full valuation reports and inventories thoroughly and professionally for a wide range of purposes, including valuations of land and property, valuations for insurance purposes, valuations for matrimonial purposes, valuations for probate, valuations for capital gains tax or inheritance tax, valuations of farm machinery and livestock, and valuations for stocktaking.

Agricultural, Land Agency, Planning

We offer a prompt, efficient, and personal land agency service for large and small landowners and occupiers. This includes farm business tenancy agreements, seasonal grass lettings, rent reviews, dilapidations and tenant right matters, architectural service for farm buildings, diversification schemes, and all aspects of farm land management.

We are able to organise and conduct the sale of land, buildings, and property. Initial consultations are given entirely without obligation.

We undertake the letting and management of residential property and advise on the legal and financial implications of letting. Our letting services are tailored to suit the requirements of the individual client, in line with our commitment to personal service.
