At Huntley Cartwright, we are a leading firm of chartered quantity surveyors, project managers, principal designers, and construction experts. Our team has been established for over 30 years, offering a wide range of services to cater to all sectors of the built environment. Our company was founded in 1985 in Oxted, Surrey, and within four years, we expanded and moved to Caterham, Surrey, where we are currently based. Over the years, we have grown and now employ over 30 staff, including eight partners. We have gained extensive experience working on a variety of projects, particularly in the education, heritage, commercial, cultural, and residential sectors, as well as public realm and marine markets.

At Huntley Cartwright, we believe that our staff are our greatest asset, and we value the contribution they make to our success. We run an effective training and apprenticeship scheme that leads to graduate and chartered surveyor status. Additionally, we have an active continuing professional development (CPD) programme for all staff to ensure they are constantly updated with the latest industry practices and knowledge.

Our Services

We offer a comprehensive range of services to cater to the needs of our clients across all sectors of the built environment. Our core services include quantity surveying, project management, principal designer, and contract administration. We also provide expert services such as claims and dispute resolution, construction design and management, and clerk of works services.

Our quantity surveying team controls and manages project costs from inception to completion, using integrated risk, change, and value management procedures. We advise on procurement and contract strategies, prepare tender documentation, and manage the appointment of contractors. During the construction stage, we value work completed, prepare regular financial reports, agree on the cost of changes, and agree on the final account upon completion.

Our project management team is skilled in defining the brief and delivering projects within cost constraints, to programme, and to achieve the desired quality. We work closely with clients, stakeholders, and the delivery team to ensure that projects are managed and delivered efficiently.

As principal designers, we offer construction design and management services, ensuring that our clients' projects are safe and compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations. We also conduct construction site auditing and provide clerk of works services.

In conjunction with a core quantity surveying appointment, we can provide contract administration and/or employer's agent services. We are fully conversant with the JCT and NEC suites of construction contracts and have many years of experience effectively establishing, managing, and administering these forms of contract.

We are well-versed in all forms of dispute resolution and can assist with claim negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and formal Technology and Construction Court (TCC) referral of a dispute. We also work with insurance companies and loss adjusters in the evaluation and settlement of claims.
